Confluence 9.5 beta release notes

Atlassian presents Confluence 9.5.0-rc1. This is a snapshot of our work in progress, primarily focused on providing app developers an opportunity to test their apps and make any required changes in advance of an official release.

Confluence 9.5.0-rc1  is available to download now.

Development releases are not production ready. Development releases are snapshots of the ongoing Confluence development process. While we try to keep these releases stable, they have not undergone the same degree of testing as a full release, and could contain features that are incomplete or may change or be removed before the next full release.

No upgrade path. Because development releases represent work in progress, we cannot provide a supported upgrade path between development releases, or from any development release to a final release. You may not be able to migrate any data you store in a Confluence development release to a future Confluence release.

Atlassian does not provide support for development releases.

Controlled site reindex

For: ADMINS

You now have precise control over how you rebuild your site's search index. You no longer have to spend time reindexing entire spaces or even the whole site when you only need to rebuild a portion of the content index.

You can now choose which elements you want to reindex for a space or site:

  • Content, such as pages, blog posts, and comments
  • Attachments
  • For site reindex, users

Exact search is now enabled by default for OpenSearch

For: ADMINS

We've enhanced exact searches in Confluence to provide more specific results. This feature is now enabled by default for OpenSearch, ensuring that exact searches return more precise matches by ignoring wrapping punctuation and capitalization. Rebuild the search index to enable your users to perform exact string searching in Confluence.

Exact search isn't enabled by default for Chinese, Custom Japanese, and CJK indexing languages. If you have instances that are indexing with these languages, you can enable exact search via the confluence.open.search.improvements.exact.scriptio.continua.enable dark feature.

If you’re using Lucene as a search engine, follow this guide to enable exact search.
