To use Jira Server for Microsoft Teams, you need to sign in to your Jira and MS Teams and have the following permissions in your Jira instance:

  • View issues

  • Create issue

  • Edit issues

If you don’t have permission to perform a specific action, you’ll see an error message. In that case, contact your Jira admin so they can grant you the needed permission.

View issues

To see the Jira issues in the team's channel or group, you need the Browse projects (BROWSE_PROJECTS) permission for all specified projects in the JQL filter used when creating the tab.

Create issues

To create issues in Microsoft Teams, you need the Create issues (CREATE_ISSUES) permission.
